Welcome to the CUGCR Website

The Cambridge University Guild of Change Ringers was formed in 1879 to practise the art of change ringing. Today we are an active student society who organise many ringing and social events throughout the year.

We ring at several churches within Cambridge, and welcome ringers of all abilities. To find out more about the Guild, explore this website, e-mail secretary@cugcr.org.uk, or feel free to join us at one of our practices.

Freshers’ Cycle Outing

Posted 13th October 2010

This Saturday (16th October) sees the traditional freshers’ cycle outing, organised this year by Max, our Assistant Master. The itinerary is as follows; do feel free to join the outing at any point:

10.30 Meet outside Great St Mary’s
11.30-12.30 Longstanton, All Saints 7-2-11 (8)
LUNCH The White Horse
14.30-15.30 Oakington, St Andrew 5-2-10 (6)
16.00-17.00 Histon, St Andrew 9-1-27 (8)

Max says: It’s only about 6 miles to Longstanton and then we work our way back, so if you haven’t got a bike in Cambridge, why not try to borrow one? The Citi 6 (Stagecoach) does go to Oakington, so there’s always the option of joining us for lunch and the afternoon.

We’re there to have some fun and try some different bells, so we’ll ring anything anyone wants for any ability – none of the bells are particularly heavy so they’ll be perfect for plain hunt and surprise alike.
