This year’s Christmas meal will be on Saturday 27th November at Robinson College. Steve’s volunteered to be master chef for the evening so expect some culinary delights on a Christmas theme. I would be good to know numbers as soon as possible – in particular, if you’d like to be part of the secret santa, you need to tell me by 8am on Sunday. This should be a great occasion for everyone to get together at the end of term – I hope to see lots of you there!

Welcome to the CUGCR Website
The Cambridge University Guild of Change Ringers was formed in 1879 to practise the art of change ringing. Today we are an active student society who organise many ringing and social events throughout the year.
We ring at several churches within Cambridge, and welcome ringers of all abilities. To find out more about the Guild, explore this website, e-mail secretary@cugcr.org.uk, or feel free to join us at one of our practices.

Fantastic news from the SUA in London: CUGCR managed to (just) come out on top in both the 6-bell and 8-bell contests in an incredibly tight competition, taking both tankards off Oxford for the first time in 4 years. The (somewhat unexpected) double victory rounded off a great day out in London socialising with other university ringers. Congratulations to all the team: Teifi, Freddie, George, Catriona, Lizzie, Jonathan, Steve and Max. Let’s get practising so we can retain them next year!
8-bell (Spitalfields): CUGCR (ringing 1st) rang plain bob triples – placed 1st out of 8 with 81.5% (2nd place: Bristol with 81%)
6-bell (St Katharine Cree): CUGCR (ringing 7th) rang Norwich surprise minor – placed 1st out of 11 with 69% (2nd place: Bristol with 68%)
Our thanks go to the UL for organising such a good weekend.

Learners’ Practice
We’re running another beginners’ practice this Saturday, 6th Nov, from 15:00-17:00 at StAG. Drop in at any point during the afternoon to have a go at ringing and annoy all your friends in Christ’s. If you’ve already been along to some of our learners’ practices, then this is a great opportunity to make some good progress as hopefully you’ll be able to get a lot of time at the end of a rope. There’s also an extra long tied-bell learners’
practice from 19:00-20:00 at St Bene’t's this week. I hope to see lots of you there!

SUA weekend
This year’s SUA will be held in London on 12th-14th November. The weekend is always a really fun way to meet ringers from other universities – the ringing is effectively just an excuse for a big social. The striking competitions will be on Saturday 13th: 8-bell at Spitalfields in the morning and 6-bell at St Katharine Cree in the afternoon. The rest of the weekend will feature ring and drinking in varying proportions, and you are all very welcome to come to any or all of it. It would be nice to get at least 8 students there on Saturday morning though, so please let Catriona know if you’re able to come.
