Acquisition numbers, where given, refer to the order in which the books were acquired, as recorded in the Acquisition Book. Class marks refer to the content of the book, and are organised as follows:

| IIb | works and histories on bells, bellringing, and bellringers in general |
| IIc | works, rules and histories of particular associations, guilds or societies |
| IId | works on founders and their bells |
| III | old and obscure works on ringing theory and practice |
| IVa | works on ringing theory |
| IVb | works on the practical and the mechanical aspects of ringing bells |
| V | reports from associations, guilds, societies and the Central Council |
| VI | not books, i.e. cassettes, records, CDs, computer programs, etc |
| VII | miscellaneous and other |
