If use the word ‘enthusiastic’ too often when describing current Guild members, it is only a testament to their boundless enthusiasm, and Jack’s is no exception. Strengthening the ranks of artists against a rising scientific take-over, Jack’s experience in steeple-keeping at his home tower in West Sussex will also offer us a valuable safety net in our sometimes over-exuberant industry. ‘We don’t replace many stays at home,’ he says, ‘and I’ll expect the same here.’
