Rules

  • Bands that are eligible to win the striking competitions must consist of members who are all in statu pupillari at an attending university.
  • We may not have time to have an unlimited number of scratch bands entering the competition. Preference will be given to a first or second eligible team, or a band which enables a non-eligible team to enter.
  • People can ring with more than one team, but no person may ring with more than one eligible team in each contest (6- and 8-bell) i.e. you can ring in one eligible team and as many scratch teams as you like for each of the 6-bell and 8-bell striking competitions.
  • On entering the tower, a practice piece will be rung. Up to three minutes is permissible, after which the bells must be stood. The test piece will follow, commencing and ending with rounds. Rounds at the start will not be marked.
  • Commencement of the test piece will be indicated by ringing the treble for two whole strokes (handstroke, backstroke, handstroke, backstroke).
  • For the Six-Bell Competition, the test piece shall be a minimum of 120 changes OR Doubles OR Minor OR Call changes.
