Welcome to the CUGCR Website
The Cambridge University Guild of Change Ringers was formed in 1879 to practise the art of change ringing. Today we are an active student society who organise many ringing and social events throughout the year.
We ring at several churches within Cambridge, and welcome ringers of all abilities. To find out more about the Guild, explore this website, e-mail secretary@cugcr.org.uk, or feel free to join us at one of our practices.

Christmas Dinner – 1st Dec
Posted 21st October 2011
Cambridge Christmas will be here sooner than you think! The Guild Christmas dinner will be on Thursday 1st December in Robinson.
College dinners are usually on a number of nights, so hopefully you can keep that day free to join the fun with plenty of food, drink, party hats, corny jokes, too many sprouts, handbells (to play jingle bells on) and general fun.
Look forward to seeing you there!

YP Outing – Sat 29 Oct
Posted 19th October 2011
If anyone is interested, there is a young ringers’ outing around Newmarket/Soham – I’m sure they’d be very pleased to see people. Have a look at facebook for more details.
Unfortunately, I can’t go as I’ve arranged a have-a-go session at GSM for learners, but there are plenty of buses/trains between places (the outing has been designed to be doable by bus).
If anyone is around to help me between 1.30 and 3.30 at GSM who is confident with teaching, I could do with some help too.

Freshers’ Cycle Outing
Posted 11th October 2011
The Guild Freshers’ cycle outing will be on Saturday the 15th of October; the planned itinerary is given below.
Those with Saturday lectures or a great love of their beds who are unable to make the start are welcome to join us late at the first tower or at any subsequent point on the route. For those less inclined towards two wheels I have given transport options below, however they do tend to be in and out of the city rather than between towers. There may well be additional buses that do these routes.
Itinerary:
| 10:45 | Meet GSM |
| 11:00-12:00 | Ring at St Edwards, Cambridge (TBC) |
| 12:00-14:00 | Ride to Great Shelford then lunch at suitable pub, probably the Square and Compasses, Great Shelford |
| 14:00-15:00 | Ring at St Mary the Virgin, Great Shelford (use Citi 7 bus) |
| 15:30-16:30 | Ring at St Mary and St Michael, Trumpington (use one of many buses) |
| 17:00 | Return to Cambridge |

Welcome to new students
Posted 18th August 2011
Anyone coming to study in Cambridge in the new year will be warmly welcomed at any or all of our practices whether you’re still learning to handle the rope or splicing surprise – we have everyone in between!
Come and chat to us at the freshers’ fair or send an e-mail to any of us if you want more information (or just to check that we are as friendly as we say we are).
We hope to see you at St Andrew’s on Thursdays (8:00) or St Bene’t's on Fridays (7:30) in term time or at any of the other ringing/social activities we hope you’ll find out about through our mailing list. You can always join us for socialising after most practices, but Thursday 13th October should see an exciting (and free for freshers) squash where we’ll be especially keen to introduce ourselves to you and you to us.
Congratulations to everyone on their results and we hope to see lots of interest in ringing and socialising in the new year.
